Ahn Wins Singles Title at ITA Northwest Regionals

Freshman qualifies for NCAA Singles Championship next month in Orlando

BERKELEY, Calif. – Freshman Alyssa Ahn burst onto the scene in her second tournament for Stanford, winning the ITA Northwest Regional Championships singles title on Tuesday afternoon with a 6-0, 6-1 throttling California’s Naomi Xu.

Ahn is the second consecutive freshman winner of the tournament for the Cardinal, following Valerie Glozman in 2024. Stanford has now produced the tournament singles champion in 13 of the last 15 years: Ahn (2025), Glozman (2024), Alexandra Yepifanova (2022), Connie Ma (2021), Michaela Gordon (2019, 2018, 2017), Taylor Davidson (2015), Carol Zhao (2014), Kristie Ahn (2013, 2010), Krista Hardebeck (2012) and Nicole Gibbs (2011).

Ahn, who entered the year 90th in the ITA rankings and was seeded fifth at this tournament, dropped just one set in her six matches in Berkeley and picked up ranked wins over No. 68 Reece Carter (Washington) and No. 113 Berta Passola Folch (California). She’s 10-2 in her first 12 collegiate matches, including 5-2 against ranked opponents in her three weeks on The Farm.

In beating Passola Folch 6-3, 7-5 in the semifinals on Monday, Ahn qualified for the NCAA Singles Championship next month in Orlando.
