One of the deepest fields in the country takes on the Stanford Intercollegiate

  • The annual Stanford Intercollegiate, hosted by Dr. Condoleezza Rice, takes place this weekend at Stanford Golf Course on Oct. 17-19.
  • Acer is a supporting sponsor of this year’s Stanford Intercollegiate.
  • Stanford Golf Course plays at 6,278 yards and is a par-71.
  • 19 teams are in this year’s field, with several in the preseason top 25 from Golf Channel: No. 1 Stanford, No. 2 Texas, No. 3 Oregon, No. 4 USC, No. 5 Arizona State, No. 8 LSU, No. 13 Northwestern, No. 17 Tennessee, and No. 21 Oklahoma State.
  • Not only are the teams stacked, but some of the best amateur golfers in the world will golf in the Stanford Intercollegiate. 10 of the top 20 in the most recent World Amateur Golf Rankings are in this year’s field, including four from Stanford.
  • This is the first full-team tournament for the Cardinal since the Jackson T. Stephens Cup. Stanford finished second in stroke play and lost 3-2 to Wake Forest in the match play finals.
  • The last time Stanford competed as a team in any form was at the 2025 Big Match, in match play with the men’s program. The teams tied 3.5-3.5, but Stanford won in a playoff hole thanks to a dramatic putt from Megha Ganne.
  • Stanford sent Kelly Xu and Nora Sundberg to the Windy City Collegiate on Sept. 29-30 in Golf, Ill. Xu entered the third round in the lead but settled for a share of sixth place, while Sundberg shot 4-under over her final two rounds en route to a tie for 25th.
  • While Xu and Sundberg were in Illinois, the rest of the Stanford starting lineup was playing in Singapore at the World Amateur Team Championships.
  • Stanford lineup for this year’s Stanford Intercollegiate is as follows: Paula Martín Sampedro, Andrea Revuelta, Meja Örtengren, Megha Ganne, Kelly Xu.
  • The Stanford Intercollegiate is once again supporting PlayForHer as part of an initiative to help raise funds in support of breast cancer research.
  • This year’s tournament is being dedicated to Northwestern’s head coach, Emily Fletcher, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010 and completed treatment in 2011. She is a 15-year survivor and a national champion, after her Huskies beat Stanford in the match play finals of the NCAA Championship.
  • Funds raised in honor of Coach Fletcher will be given to Stanford oncologist Dr. Jennifer Caswell-Jin to support her unique efforts in developing a breast cancer vaccine.
  • Supporters can help raise money by pledging to sponsor each birdie your favorite team makes, or even better, the entire field. In 2024, there were 724 total birdies, and on average, each team made 38 birdies.
