California, UC Davis on Deck

No. 2 California and No. 6 UC Davis

STANFORD, Calif. - The No. 4 Cardinal hosts a pair of top-six opponents this weekend, starting with a Friday afternoon bout against No. 2 California. On Sunday, Stanford hosts No. 6 UC Davis in a non-conference clash.

The season the Card went 3-1 against the cross-bay rivals, winning the Big Splash with a 16-11 victory at Avery on Nov. 15.

In 2025, Stanford is 1-0 against UC Davis. The two teams met in September, with the Cardinal winning 12-6 in Davis.

Friday's game starts at 3:00 p.m. PT at Avery Aquatics Center, with tickets available at Tickets.GoStanford.com. Sunday's game at 1:00 p.m. PT will be free admission, and both will be streamed on Overnght. 


VET IN THE CAGE » Temkin returns in the cage after a Second Team All-America and First Team All-MPSF season in 2024. The senior stopped a season-high 16 shots in the overtime loss to USC last month, and boasts 109 saves in 13 games this season.

NO SOPHOMORE SLUMP » The sophomore class has been key to the Cardinal's success in 2025, accounting for four of the top five point contributors on the team. Botond Balogh has been dominant to start the season, leading the team in points (64), goals (40) and assists (24). Fellow sophomores Ben Forer (33) and Max Zelikov (24) are not far behind him for the team goal lead.

MPSF HONORS » Botond Balogh has earned MPSF Player of the Week honors twice this season, including last week after scoring seven times in the win over Long Beach State.

STRONG INTRODUCTION » Transfer Gianpiero Di Martire has made a strong introduction, third on the team in points (51), goals (33) and assists (18).

SUMMER ABROAD » Ohl and junior Alex Gheorghe each competed at the World Aquatics World Championships in Croatia this summer. Ohl represented the US, while Gheorghe competed for Romania.
