Ganne Claims Intercollegiate Championship

Stanford is on pace to set a new course record this weekend

STANFORD, Calif. — The Stanford Intercollegiate, hosted by Dr. Condoleezza Rice, is one of the most special tournaments of the NCAA season. Golfing for a cause and raising over $160,000 (and counting) is, of course, the highlight of the weekend, but so too is the quality of golf. That was on full display Sunday as Stanford rolled to a 2025 Stanford Intercollegiate win and Megha Ganne won the individual championship.

Stanford cruised ahead of the field and never looked back, finishing with an 817 (-35), 19 strokes better than second-place No. 4 Oregon. Stanford’s 817 is the new women’s team record at Stanford Golf Course, shattering the previous mark that the Cardinal did twice in 2022 (824). It is the third-best team score in program history, trailing only the 50-under scores Stanford recorded at the 2022 Gunrock Invitational and 2023 NCAA Pullman Regional.

Ganne moves into a special territory with her third collegiate win. She is the eighth women’s golfer to reach three wins and joins Stephanie Keever with three in her career. Ganne is also the first Cardinal to win during the 2025-26 season.

There was drama aplenty as Ganne was trying to take the top spot on the leaderboard. After birdies on 12 and 13, Ganne double-bogeyed 14 to move two strokes back of the leaders with five to play. She rebounded with birdies on 15 and 17 to create a logjam for first place with just two holes remaining. Both Ganne and Paula Martín Sampedro were in contention for the Cardinal, with Catherine Park (USC) and Kiara Romero (Oregon) threatening, among others.

On Ganne’s final hole of the afternoon (Hole 1), she found herself off the fairway and in some brush on her third shot. She hit a ridiculous shot over the cart path and rolled it just a few feet away from the pin, creating a birdie opportunity that she rolled in to move to 10-under overall, 5-under (66) on the day, and move into the outright lead. Meanwhile, Park was on four and recorded a par, which secured the win for Ganne.

Finishing one stroke back of Ganne was Martín Sampedro, who entered the day as the leader at 8-under. She shot a 1-under 70, which is nothing to scoff at. She put herself in position to tie for the win after knocking down a birdie putt on 18 in the final wave, but Ganne was on the first hole and about to record a birdie of her own. Still, it’s another top-five finish for the junior, and moving it out further, she now owns 16 top-10s in her career.

One of the best Stanford rounds of the day came from Meja Örtengren, who tied for eighth overall with her teammate, Andrea Revuelta. Örtengren shot a 3-under 68 to move to 5-under for the tournament, closing out a great weekend. She began with a birdie on six and followed that up with three more on the back nine, finishing with a single bogey on her card. It’s already her 11th round in the 60s in just over a year (34 counting rounds).

Stanford has one more tournament in the fall portion of the season. The Cardinal heads to Hawaii for the annual Nanea Invitational, which takes place on Oct. 27-29. Stanford won the event last year, and it was Ganne who took the individual championship.
