STANFORD, Calif. – After leading Stanford to a 2-0 week that included a 2-1 victory at No. 7 Florida State on Thursday, redshirt senior Andrea Kitahata has been named ACC Offensive Player of the Week.
The conference weekly honor is the first of Kitahata’s career, while Stanford has garnered Offensive Player of the Week in back-to-back weeks after Jasmine Aikey took home the honor last week. The Cardinal has won three ACC weekly honors overall this year, as Elise Evans was named Defensive Player of the Week on August 19.
The Cardinal went 2-0 last week, posting a 2-1 victory at then-No. 7 Florida State on Thursday before defeating Miami 3-2 on Sunday.
Kitahata scored in both matches last week, including a brace and the game-winner on Sunday to knock off Miami - the third career multi-goal match of her career. Her goal in the sixth minute at No. 7 Florida State set the tone as Stanford went on the road and picked up the big victory in ACC play. Kitahata has registered at least one point in 12 of Stanford’s 15 matches this season.
Cal's Teagan Wy was named Defensive Player of the Week.
The Cardinal is now preparing to host SMU on Saturday at 7 p.m. for Senior Night and the final regular-season home contest of the year.
