Stanford, Cal, and Arizona State link up in a tri-meet this weekend

  • 8 Stanford men’s swimming and diving competes at home for the first time this season in a tri-meet with No. 3 Arizona State and No. 4 California.
  • The tri-meet begins on Friday, Oct. 24, at 2 p.m. at Avery Aquatics Center before heading to Berkeley on Saturday, Oct. 25, at 11 a.m.
    • There are nine events scheduled for Friday and eight on Saturday.
  • Both sessions will be televised on ACC Network Extra and are available in the ESPN app.
  • In addition to the swimmers returning to the pool for the second time this year, it will serve as the 2025-26 debut for the divers.
  • Stanford began its season at the PAC Invite, hosted by the University of the Pacific, on Oct. 3. The Cardinal began the season with nine heat wins and was leading the field after two sessions of competition.
  • Jonathan Tan was one of the standouts for Stanford at the PAC Invite. He began his season with a win in the 50 free and contributed to wins in the 200 medley relay, 200 free relay, and 800 free relay.
  • Tan was defeated narrowly in the 100 fly by Rafael Gu, who won the event with a time of 47.33. It marked the second year in a row that Gu won the 100 fly in a season opener.
  • The Cardinal won a number of relays, including the team’s first relay of the season (200 medley relay with Finn Harland, Zhier Fan, Gu, and Tan).
  • Misha Andriyuk, Gunnar Grubbs, and Grant Schneider will debut this season as the team’s divers. Andriyuk earned First Team All-America honors as a freshman last year and was the runner-up at ACCs in platform diving. Grubbs and Schneider are both freshmen.
  • This marks the final time Stanford will compete at Avery Aquatics Center until Senior Day against California on Jan. 30, 2026.
  • Stanford will remain in the Bay Area for its next competition in two weeks, when it takes part in the Triple Distance Meet at California on Friday, Nov. 7.
