Stanford Sweeps Georgia Tech

Card improves to 9-1 in the ACC

ATLANTA – Led by Elia Rubin, No. 5 Stanford swept Georgia Tech, 25-21, 25-23, 25-14, Sunday, at O’Keefe Gym.

Stanford (18-3, 9-1 ACC) hit .337 as a team while holding Georgia Tech (10-9, 5-5 ACC) to a .139 clip. The Cardinal racked up 13.0. blocks and eight aces against the Yellow Jackets.

Rubin led the team with 10 kills on 24 errorless swings to hit .417. The senior also tallied six digs, two blocks and an ace.

Freshman setter Logan Parks controlled the offense with 30 assists and had six digs, three kills, four blocks and two aces. Freshman libero Spencer Etzler finished with seven digs, four assists and three aces.

After being held to .189 hitting in the first, Stanford committed just two hitting errors in the second and third sets combined.

Outside hitter Julia Blyashov recorded nine kills, four digs, two blocks and an ace. Freshman middle blocker Erika Sayer hit .500 with seven kills on 14 errorless swings to go with six blocks.

Opposite Jordyn Harvey notched five kills, seven digs, five blocks and an ace. Middle blocker Lizzy Andrew added five kills, six blocks and two digs.

Georgia Tech was led by Lameen Mambu’s 11 kills, while libero Sofia Velez collected a match-high 13 digs. Stanford improves to 5-0 all-time against Georgia Tech.

Stanford remains on the road next week, traveling to NC State on Friday and Wake Forest on Sunday.
