STANFORD, Calif. – Dating back to last season, No. 4 Stanford extended its home winning streak to 20, sweeping Notre Dame, 25-22, 26-24, 25-14, Friday, at Maples Pavilion.
The Cardinal’s 20 straight wins at Maples is the third-longest active home winning streak in the nation. Stanford has dropped just four sets during the streak.
Outside hitter Elia Rubin and Julia Blyashov, and middle blocker Erika Sayer all tallied 12 kills to lead the Cardinal. Twenty-one of Stanford’s 26 points in the second set came on kills, hitting .364 as a team in the frame.
Stanford (12-2, 3-0 ACC), hit .291 as a team, racking up 50 kills, 40 digs and six aces. Notre Dame (4-7, 1-2 ACC) hit .250, totaling 31 kills, 33 digs and 13.0 blocks.
Rubin turned in her team-best fourth double-double of the year with 12 kills and a team-high 13 digs to go three aces and a block. Blyashov hit .375 and had three digs, two blocks and an ace. Sayer’s 12 kills came on a .450 attack percentage, and the freshman also notched two blocks and a dig.
Freshman setter Logan Parks controlled the offense, dishing out 37 assists to go with three kills, five digs and an ace. Freshman libero Spencer Etzler collected 12 digs, five assists and an ace.
Sophomore middle blocker Lizzy Andrew hit a team-high .500 with nine kills on 16 swings and just one error. Opposite Jordyn Harvey finished with two kills, three digs and an assist.
Notre Dame was led by outside hitter Morgan Gaerte’s match-high 13 kills on .344 hitting. Stanford improved to 9-1 all-time against the Fighting Irish.
Stanford closes out the weekend on Sunday, playing host to No. 6 Louisville. First serve is slated for 2 p.m. on ESPN.
