Stanford Falls to Louisville

Rubin finished with a match-high 19 kills

STANFORD, Calif. – In a top-10 battle, No. 4 Stanford fell to No. 6 Louisville, 25-21, 18-25, 20-25, 24-26, Sunday, at Maples Pavilion.

Stanford (12-3, 3-1 ACC) hit .258 as a team and totaled 61 kills, 58 digs, 8.0 blocks and three aces. Louisville (12-2. 4-0 ACC) registered a .304 attack percentage, posting 62 kills, 60 digs, 11.0 blocks and four aces.

Outside hitter Elia Rubin led Stanford with her fifth double-double of the season, registering a match-high 19 kills and 14 digs to go with three blocks. Middle blocker Lizzy Andrew hit a season-high .688 with 12 kills on 16 swings with just one error to go with two blocks.

Freshman setter Logan Parks tallied 33 assists, nine digs, a kill, an ace and a block in three sets played. Sophomore Taylor Yu replaced Parks in the third and finished with 21 assists and seven digs.

Opposite Jordyn Harvey turned in 14 kills, seven digs, three blocks and an ace. Freshman middle blocker Erika Sayer added seven kills and four blocks, while freshman libero Spencer Etzler recorded eight digs, three assists and an ace.

Redshirt sophomore Ipar Kurt started the match at outside hitter and had two kills, four digs and a block in three sets played. Redshirt sophomore Julia Blyashov entered the match in the second and chipped in with six kills and two digs. Senior defensive specialist Anna Pringle collected five digs.

Louisville was led by Payton Petersen’s 15 kills on .361 hitting, 14 digs and an ace. Middle blocker Cara Cresse added 13 kills on .409 hitting and eight blocks. The Cardinals hold a 4-2 lead in the all-time series against Stanford.
