Card Withstands Wolfpack

Kurt led the team with 16 kills

RALEIGH, N.C. – Led by Ipar Kurt, No. 5 Stanford defeated NC State, 25-21, 21-25, 25-18, 25-12, Friday, at Reynold Coliseum.

Stanford (19-3, 10-1 ACC) remains tied for first in the ACC with Pittsburgh and North Carolina. The Cardinal hit .271 as a team, while holding NC State (10-11, 3-8 ACC) to a .176 clip.

Kurt hit .382 with a match-high 16 kills to go with seven digs, two blocks and an ace. Middle blocker Lizzy Andrew registered 12 kills on .455 hitting with four blocks and two digs.

Freshman setter Logan Parks controlled the offense with 48 assists, and notched six digs, three kills, three blocks and an ace. Freshman libero Spencer Etzler racked up 21 digs – her third 20-plus dig outing of the season.

Senior Elia Rubin turned in her seventh double-double of the season with 11 kills and 11 digs. The outside hitter also matched her season-highs with four assists and three blocks.

Opposite Jordyn Harvey finished with nine kills, eight dig, two blocks and an ace. Middle blocker Erika Sayer chipped in with seven kills on .545 hitting and a match-high seven blocks

Defensive specialist Anna Pringle put down a season-high two aces and collected five digs. Redshirt sophomore Koko Kirsch added five digs and an assist.

NC State was led by Jordan Smith’s 13 kills and four blocks, while Courtney Bryant finished with a double-double with 12 kills and 16 digs. Playing its first match at Reynolds Coliseum, the Cardinal improved to 2-0 all-time against the Wolfpack.

Stanford wraps up its four-match road swing on Sunday at Wake Forest.
