STANFORD, Calif. - Kevin Hambly, The Montag Family Director of Women's Volleyball, and his staff have announced the signings of four high school standouts who will compete for the women's volleyball team next fall.
Stanford's incoming class consists of Ella Andrews (Grosse Pointe Park, Mich.), Sarah Hickman (Houston, Texas), Simone Roslon (Hermosa Beach, Calif.) and Joy Udoye (Cedar Park, Texas).
Ella Andrews • 6-4 • Middle Blocker • Grosse Pointe Park, Mich. • Mercy HS
Coach Hambly on Andrews: “Ella has the potential to be an elite blocker and attacker at the collegiate and professional levels. She is already very good on both sides of the setter, and she hits with both range and power."
Sarah Hickman • 6-5 • Opposite • Houston, Texas • Stratford HS
Coach Hambly on Hickman: “Sarah will bring tremendous size and physicality to our gym. She has proven at the club level to be an elite blocker. Sarah, as a lefty, can score both in and out of system, and she can attack angles that most players her age cannot on the right side."
Simone Roslon • 5-11 • Outside Hitter • Hermosa Beach, Calif. • Mira Costa HS
Coach Hambly on Roslon: “Simone has shown that she has the potential to be an elite passer and defender. She is also a very powerful attacker. Although a bit undersized compared to the prototypical outside, she makes up for it with both power and skill. Simone will make us better from day one in our gym."
Joy Udoye • 6-2 • Outside Hitter • Cedar Park, Texas • Cedar Park HS
Coach Hambly on Udoye: “Joy comes to Stanford already as a six-rotation outside hitter. She is a very powerful attacker who has already shown tremendous potential as an out-of-system attacker. She has proven she can be a passer and a defender, and will fit in well with our system immediately."
