STANFORD, Calif. – Led by Julia Blyashov and Elia Rubin, No. 5 Stanford swept California, 25-15, 25-12, 25-15, Wednesday, at Maples Pavilion.
Stanford (24-4, 15-2 ACC) hit .312 as a team, while holding Cal (7-20, 4-13 ACC) to a .067 clip. The Cardinal won its 10th straight over the Golden Bears.
Blyashov led all players with 14 kills on .361 hitting and notched 10 digs for her second double-double of the season.
Rubin also turned in a double-double, her team-leading eighth of the season, with 11 kills on a .348 attack percentage and matched her season-high with 17 digs. The outside hitter also tallied three of Stanford’s five aces.
Sophomore Taylor Yu started the match at setter, totaling 12 assists, two digs and a block. Sophomore Logan Tusher took over for Yu late in the first set and had a career-high 30 assists and two digs.
Opposite Jordyn Harvey matched her career-high with 15 digs to go with five kills, five digs and an ace. Middle blocker Lizzy Andrew hit .600 with nine kills on 15 errorless swings and four blocks. Middle blocker Erika Sayer chipped in with four kills and three blocks.
Libero Spencer Etzler finished with six digs, two assists and an ace. Redshirt sophomore Ipar Kurt, sophomores Sidney Duncan and Malyssa Cawa, and freshman Zaria Queen all subbed into the match in the third set. Kurt recorded two kills, while Queen registered her first collegiate kill.
Cal was led by Dominique Phillis, who had six kills, while libero Sophia Johnson had a team-high nine digs. Stanford is now 87-12 all-time against Cal.
