COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Cardinal opened team competition this weekend, with the ninth-ranked women’s team going 6-3 and the 11th-ranked men’s team going 4-3.
Freshman Tanishka Padhye led all Cardinal fencers with 17 individual bout wins. The seven-person freshman class of Grace Ker (13-5), Ruoxi Sun (13-4), Julian Goor (7-3), Robert Wang (13-8), Carson Bosita (12-7), Kushal Patel (4-17) and Padhye (17-9) combined to pick up 79 victories across the two-day competition.
Bosita made a strong introduction, going 3-0 against No. 5 Ohio State.
Sophomore Ishani Sood was perfect on day one of the competition, going 9-0 in women’s foil competition.
The Cardinal men opened day two with a strong 18-9 win over 15th-ranked UC San Diego. The saber squad won 7-2, and the foil trio of Renzo Fukuda, Sanjay Kasi and Benjamin Shih went a perfect 9-0 to lead the way.
The Card is back in action in 2026, heading to the Schiller Duals at Northwestern on January 31.
