Back at Cal for Triple Distance

Non-scoring meet will be aired on ACCNX

  • 8 Stanford men’s swimming returns to Spieker Aquatics Complex in Berkeley on Friday, Nov. 7, for the annual Triple Distance Meet against No. 4 California.
  • This is a non-scoring meet.
  • The men’s meet will be held in conjunction with the women’s meet, beginning at 1 p.m.
  • The format calls for three races in each of the six disciplines: spring freestyle, distance freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, and individual medley. Relays will be mixed-gendered.
  • Competitors will be the same in each of the disciplines.
  • Individuals who have the fastest combined time for their three events are the unofficial winners.
  • Stanford enters the Triple Distance Meet with a win over California in the Double Dual against the Golden Bears and Arizona State on Oct. 24-25. Stanford beat California 205-134. It was Stanford’s first win over California since Feb. 24, 2024.
  • Ethan Ekk set the school record in the 1000 free with a time of 8:42.25, breaking the previous mark held by Grant Shoults in 2022. It was his first collegiate win.
  • Jason Zhao scored a win in the 200 free (1:34.93), as did Gibson Holmes in the 200 fly (1:42.35).
  • Four NCAA qualifying marks here hit by Cardinal, including Henry McFadden in the 200 free (1:32.72) and Andres Dupont Cabrera in the 100 free (42.17).
  • The Triple Distance Meet has been held annually since 2001. Its first iteration was as a Double Distance Meet.
  • Friday is the final time Stanford will compete in the state of California until January.
