BERKELEY, Calif. – Stanford will be represented at the NCAA Doubles Championship by Alex Chang and Alex Razeghi, who qualified for the event with a third-place result at the ITA Sectional Championships, hosted at California’s Hellman Tennis Complex.
Chang and Razeghi went 3-1 in doubles over the four-day tournament, defeating pairs from Washington, Arizona and Pepperdine. The top-seeded duo at the event, Chang and Razeghi survived a third set tiebreaker in the third place match, winning 10-3 to punch their ticket to the NCAA Championships.
Chang and Razeghi also competed in singles, with both players going 1-1. Chang earned a ranked win in the round of 32, 6-2, 7-6 (10) over UC Santa Barbara’s No. 68 Diogo Morais, while Razeghi earned a consolation victory over Arizona’s Oskar Jansson, 7-5, 7-5.
The NCAA Doubles Championships are hosted at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida from Nov. 18-23. Chang and Razeghi will look to add to Stanford’s list of 14 NCAA champion pairs, the last of which coming in 2004 from Sam Warburg and KC Corkery.
