STANFORD, Calif. – Elia Rubin set a school record as No. 5 Stanford swept Duke, 25-9, 25-13, 25-14, Saturday, at Maples Pavilion.
Rubin fired in an ace in the third set, breaking the Stanford career mark for aces in the rally-scoring era to 25 with 137. The senior hit a career-high .609 with 14 kills on 23 errorless swings to go with eight digs and three blocks.
Stanford (22-3, 13-1 ACC) hit .397 as a team, while holding Duke (5-20, 2-12 ACC) to .000. The Cardinal racked up 10.0 blocks, 52 digs and six aces.
Freshman Logan Parks started the match at setter, finishing with eight assists, four digs and ace. Sophomore Taylor Yu controlled the offense in the second and third sets, totaling 22 assists, 11 digs, two kills and a block for her second double-double of the season.
Middle blocker Erika Sayer hit .417 with seven kills, two digs and two blocks. Sophomore Lizzy Andrew added five kills on a .571 attack percentage and seven blocks. Opposite Jordyn Harvey recorded seven kills, four digs and five blocks.
Libero Spencer Etzler collected 12 digs, six assists and two aces. Senior Anna Pringle chipped in with three digs, an assist and an ace. In total, 14 Cardinal played in the match, including sophomores Sidney Duncan and Malyssa Cawa, who registered a block and an aces, respectively.
Stanford remains on The Farm next week, playing host to No. 3 Pitt on Friday and No. 10 SMU on Sunday.
