SAN DIEGO – The Cardinal lightweight rowing team completed its lone fall regatta, the San Diego Fall Classic, with a trio of strong performances on Mission Bay in San Diego.
The Cardinal’s varsity eight finished in seventh place overall, crossing the finish line in a time of 16:15.240, and defeating 12 openweight programs despite being the only lightweight team in attendance.
Stanford fielded two varsity fours in the field, taking sixth and 12th. The sixth-place crew, which was faster than 17 openweight 4+ boats, stoppedthe clock at 18:57.421. The 12th-place crew ended in 20:23.864, and second among lightweight boats only to their teammates in a field of 24 total entrants.
The Cardinal’s spring campaign opens March 28 at Tennessee, and the home schedule begins April 11 against Princeton at Redwood Shores.
