McFadden Lands Weekly ACC Honor

First Cardinal to win Men's Swimmer of the Week this season

STANFORD, Calif. — On the heels of No. 9 Stanford men’s swimming sweeping meets against UC San Diego and No. 18 USC, Henry McFadden was named ACC Men’s Swimmer of the Week.

McFadden was fast all weekend for the Cardinal, earning four individual wins and taking part in a relay victory. The junior from Haddonfield, N.J. swept the butterfly events against UC San Diego on Friday, with a 47.27 in the 100 fly and a 1:43.82 in the 200 fly, and then returned to the freestyle events on Saturday against the Trojans, where he won in both the 100 free and 200 free. His time of 42.45 in the 100 free on Saturday was an NCAA qualifying standard time.

Not only was he fast in the individual events, but he helped Stanford win the 400 free relay against USC, with a 43.16 split in the third leg.

This is the second time in McFadden’s career he has been named ACC Men’s Swimmer of the Week, and he is the first Cardinal to win the award multiple times. He first took home the award as a sophomore in 2024 in the final week of the fall portion of the season.

Stanford will enjoy a week off before returning to Avery on Saturday, Jan. 30, against No. 4 California at 1 p.m. for Senior Day.
