Men’s Basketball Wins at Boston College

Okorie, Gealer eclipsed 20 points in the Cardinal’s road victory

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Opening its road trip in New England, Stanford men’s basketball earned a 70-64 victory over Boston College at Conte Forum. The Cardinal improves to 16-9 on the season and 5-7 in the ACC.

Ebuka Okorie led the scoring with 22 points, finishing 8-for-14 from the floor with a pair of 3-pointers and four free throws, to go with four rebounds and five assists. Okorie passed Chasson Randle for second place on Stanford’s freshman scoring list in a single season, moving within just one point of tying Todd Lichti for the program record. He also passed Randle for seventh on the freshman assists list.

Matching his career-high with six made 3-pointers, Benny Gealer new career-bests with 21 points and eight rebounds, to go along with three steals and two assists. Gealer has made multiple threes in each of the last five games and has hit at least three triples 14 times this season.

Jeremy Dent-Smith added 11 points while Aidan Camman had eight. AJ Rohosy scored six points and matched Gealer with a team-high eight rebounds. Oskar Giltay matched a career-high with blocked four shots, and he moved past Oscar da Silva for seventh place on the Cardinal’s freshman blocks list.

Stanford improves to 2-0 against Boston College in program history, with both meetings coming as ACC opponents.

The Cardinal jumped out to an early nine-point lead, 15-6, led by eight early points from Gealer. Stanford’s largest lead of the night came with 5:52 to play in the opening half, 32-18, but Boston College (9-15, 2-9 ACC) ended the period on a 16-2 run to tie the game at the half, 34-34.

Rohosy sparked the Cardinal with three consecutive baskets at the start of the second half, keying a 12-2 run that gave Stanford the edge for good. Okorie scored 12 points in the second half while Gealer sealed the game with his sixth triple of the night with 30 seconds to play.

Stanford returns to action on Wednesday, Feb. 14 at Wake Forest. The 1 p.m. PT (4 p.m. ET) tip will air on ACC Network.
