STANFORD, Calif. – Monika Ekstrand was named ACC Co-Freshman of the Week when the conference announced its weekly award winners on Tuesday.
Ekstrand was undefeated in both singles and doubles in the Cardinal’s 4-3 victories over Sacramento State and UC Santa Barbara last week.
She clinched the dual against the Hornets with a three-set victory over Reese Walker, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4. On Saturday, Ekstrand beat the Gauchos’ No. 100 Ekua Youri 6-4, 7-6 (2).
The freshman is 6-1 during the spring season playing exclusively on the top court and has clinched three of Stanford’s four duals.
Stanford starts ACC play this weekend when it hosts Georgia Tech and Clemson.
