STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford took first at the McIntyre Team Race this weekend, winning all 18 head-to-head competitions.
“This regatta is about honoring your teammates, remembering those who came before you and being grateful for the opportunities of today,” said head coach Chris Klevan. “We sailed 18 of our 22-person roster in the effort to take home the trophy. To me, it was a complete team effort.”
Cardinal boats swept the top three spots in 11 races to top the 10-team regatta. San Diego State and UCSB tied for second, each finishing 13-5.
The results were a full team effort. Vanessa Lahrkamp, Alice Schmid, Sophie Fisher, Piper Blackband, Ellie Harned, Kit Harned and Samara Walshe competed in the first round.
Round two saw Lucas Woodworth, Callie Hammond, Dylan Sih, Caroline Geiger, Freddie Parkin, Abby Baird, Amiya Stroumza, Thomas Whidden, Avery Baldwin, Kate Myles and Alexandra Jones rotate in as well.
Next up for the Cardinal is a pair of Tulane-hosted regattas, competing at the Nelson Rolsch Open Team Race and Green Wave Women’s Team Race. Both regattas run from Feb. 28-March 1.
