STANFORD, Calif. – Caroline Driscoll clinched her first match of the season and Stanford swept visiting Wake Forest on Friday afternoon, 4-0.
Driscoll had been a little bit of a rut, going 1-5 in her last six matches, and lost the first set on court three to the Demon Deacons’ Kady Tannenbaum. But the senior captain stormed back in the second, winning 6-1, and clinched it with a 6-2 victory in the third set.
Driscoll’s three-setter came after very quick singles finishes from freshmen Alyssa Ahn and Tianmei Wang. Ahn beat Krystal Blanch on court two 6-0, 6-1 and Wang, herself 1-5 in her last six duals, beat Heidi Bulger 6-0, 6-0 on court four.
The Cardinal secured the doubles point with a win from Sein Myoung and Morgan Shaffer on court three, 7-5, their second win of the spring. Alyssa Ahn and Tianmei Wang were 6-2 winners on court two.
Stanford next hosts No. 27 NC State on Saturday at noon.
