Quick Sticks

  • Stanford wraps up a three-meet home stand Friday, taking on its fourth consecutive conference dual meet against No. 33 Pittsburgh.
  • The meeting of the Cardinal and Panthers is set to begin at 7 p.m. and will be televised on ACC Network Extra with Jenna Becerra and Casey Magnuson on the call. Live scoring can be found on the Virtius platform.
  • No. 9 Stanford captured its third conference dual victory in its last three meets Friday night, besting No. 20 California, 196.975-196.825, inside Maples Pavilion. The victory over the Golden Bears marked the Cardinal’s first dual-meet win over its Bay Area rival since the 2014 season (March 3, 2014).
  • Senior Anna Roberts and junior Sienna Robinson were recognized by the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) on Tuesday, earning the titles of ACC Gymnast and Specialist of the Week, respectively. This marks Roberts' third consecutive week receiving the Gymnast of the Week honor, while Robinson earned her first Specialist of the Week accolade of the season. Both Roberts and Robinson achieved new career bests during the competition and captured individual event titles.
  • Roberts clinched her third straight all-around title against California with a combined apparatus score of 39.575. She currently leads all ACC gymnasts in the all-around competition and ranks fourth nationally with an average score of 39.542. Her beam score of 9.950 during Stanford's win over California set a new career best and represents the highest mark on that apparatus by an ACC gymnast this season. She is the only all-around gymnast in the ACC to hold top-10 rankings on all four apparatuses.
  • Robinson has consistently excelled in each of Stanford’s meets this season, earning an event title (or a share) in each of the Cardinal's first four outings. For the second consecutive week, Robinson achieved a new career-best score on bars, securing the apparatus title with a score of 9.950 against California, which ties for the highest mark in the conference this season. She leads all conference gymnasts on beam with an average score of 9.906 and is the only specialist in the ACC to hold top-two rankings on two events (1st on Beam, T2nd on Bars).
  • Just five weeks into the season, Stanford is ranked ninth nationally and boasts top-five rankings on bars and floor. The Cardinal's ranking is its best in week 5 since the 2011 season and its average team total of 196.938 in week five of the NCAA season is .425 better than it was last season.
  • The Cardinal has grown its average score from a season-opening mark of 196.475 to its current average of 196.938. Stanford is the only school currently in the top-10 of the Road to Nationals rankings to not face a drop in average during the first five weeks in the season and has grown its average the most since its first meet of any current top-10 program (.463 from Week 2 to Week 5; second-best team is UCLA, .400 from Week 1 to Week 5).
