Stanford Squares off with Spartans

Annual Battle of the Bay begins at 11 a.m. in Los Altos

  • Top-ranked Stanford women’s golf squares off against San Jose State in the annual Battle of the Bay match play event on Monday, March 2.
  • The fourth-annual Battle of the Bay will take place at Los Altos Golf & Country Club, with the first tee time at 11 a.m.
  • Both teams will send six golfers out in head-to-head matches. Ties will not be played out.
  • Stanford is 2-1 against the Spartans since this event began, with a 5-1 victory last year.
  • Stanford dropped its only other head-to-head this season to Wake Forest in the championship match of the Jackson T. Stephens Cup.
  • The Cardinal enters the month of March on the heels of a perfect February. Stanford won both stroke play tournaments it entered, with the most recent being the Bruin Wave Invitational on Feb. 23-24.
  • Stanford also has two individual winners in the spring season. Andrea Revuelta won the Arizona Thunderbird Intercollegiate while Paula Martín Sampedro won the Bruin Wave Invitational.
  • After her win last week, Martín Sampedro was named the ACC Golfer of the Month. She had a pair of top-two finishes in February and had a scoring average of 69.67 for February.
