STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford will participate in the postseason as part of the 32-team Women’s Basketball Invitation Tournament field, the WBIT selection committee announced Sunday.
The Cardinal will host Loyola Marymount in a first-round game at Maples Pavilion on Thursday, March 19. Game times for the entire first round will be announced by 9 a.m. PT on Monday, March 16. Tickets are currently on sale by visiting tickets.gostanford.com.
First round play in the tournament is scheduled for Thursday, March 19, with second-round games taking place on March 22. Quarterfinals will be held on March 26 with four teams advancing to Charles Koch Arena in Wichita, Kan., for the semifinals on Monday, March 30. The WBIT will conclude with the championship game on Wednesday, April 1.
The winner of Stanford/LMU will face the winner of George Mason/Quinnipiac on Sunday. If the Cardinal was to advance, it would host a second-round game on Sunday, March 22.
Preliminary round WBIT games will be televised on ESPN+, while the semifinals will be on ESPNU, and the finals will be on ESPN2.
Stanford will be participating in the WBIT for the second consecutive season.
Stanford is 2-0 all-time against LMU. The first meeting came at an early-season tournament in Honolulu, Hawai’i on Dec. 4, 1987, 83-38. The Cardinal hosted the Lions in the Preseason WNIT on Nov. 9, 2006, winning 88-61.
