STANFORD, Calif. - It was a banner night for Stanford women's swimming & diving, collecting two individual NCAA Champions and a pair of new program records on the third night of the NCAA Championships.
Lucy Bell got the evening started by defending her 200 breaststroke national title, clocking a lifetime-best 2:02.38 to repeat as champion. Her race-winning mark is nearly two seconds faster than her time in last season's final, where she won with a 2:04.28. It is Bell's fourth time resetting the program record in the event this season, as she becomes the third fastest performer all-time in the event, behind Kate Douglass (2:01.29) and Alex Walsh (2:02.07).
In the 50 free, Torri Huske added another NCAA title to her decorated resume with a new career-best time of 20.66. Huske dropped 0.26 seconds from her previous mark, dropping a 9.92 opening 25 yards to put herself in position for the victory. It was Huske's first time swimming the event at the NCAA Championships, as she became the second-fastest woman in history behind Gretchen Walsh.
The morning session saw three Cardinal earn individual All-America honors for the first time in their careers. Annam Olasewere fired off a 21.59 in the 50 free prelims to finish 12th overall, while Addie Robillard finished 14th in the 200 breast with a 2:07.94 effort. At the diving boards, Emilie Moore broke through in her third and final national championship meet, finishing 13th in the 3-meter dive.
Stanford closed out the night with another All-American relay to cap off the night, as the quartet of Levenia Sim, Bell, Gigi Johnson, and Olasewere combined for a 3:25.59 to finish ninth in the 400 medley relay.
The Cardinal remains third in the team standings with 242.5 points, behind Virginia (437.5) and Texas (272). The four-day event concludes on Saturday with the 200 IM, 100 free, 200 fly, 200 back, Platform Dive, and the 400 Free Relay.
