- Fall Racing Recap: Stanford Women’s Rowing took on its only fall racing event of the 2025-26 season Sunday, Nov. 9, sending nine boats to compete at the annual San Diego Fall Classic on Mission Bay in San Diego. Stanford sent four eights boats: “Card”, “Elle Logan”, “SWC”, and “Attacker”, and five fours boats: “Thunderdome”, “IB”, “Juice”, “Nerd”, and “Academic Weapon”. The Cardinal’s eights boats earned the four top finishes in the Women’s Open 8+ competition, with “SWC” finishing first, "Attacker" second, "Card" third, and "Elle Logan" placing fourth. Stanford bested crews from UCLA, University of San Diego, UC San Diego, San Diego State, and UC Santa Barbara. The morning ended with the Cardinal’s five fours recording the top five finishes in the Women’s Open 4+ race. “Academic Weapon” placed first, followed by "Thunderdome", "Juice", "Nerd" and "IB" with the second, third, fourth and fifth-place finishes, respectively.
- Offseason Accolades: Stanford's highly anticipated racing debut in 2026 was highlighted in the sport's out-of-season accolades. The Cardinal was picked to finish first in the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association's annual pre-racing poll with 22 of 25 possible first-place votes. Stanford's freshman Emma Bagrie was named to the Atlantic Coast Conference's (ACC) 2026 Preseason ACC Rowing Watch List, while senior Alice Baker and juniors Célia Dupré, Mads Greenstock, and Honor Warburg were honored by the CRCA as 2026 Athletes to Watch.
- 2024-25 Year in Review: Stanford women’s rowing regained its spot at the top of the collegiate rowing world in 2025, winning its fourth consecutive conference title, the first as a member of the ACC, and the program’s third NCAA team title guided by individual national championships from the varsity four and second varsity eight boats.
- A Bit About Byrnes: Derek Byrnes enters his tenth season as Stanford’s Farwell Family Director of Women’s Rowing in 2025-26. Byrnes has led the Cardinal to two NCAA team titles (2023 and 2025) and eight top-six finishes in his first nine seasons at the helm of the program (2020 championship canceled due to COVID-19 pandemic).
