Cardinal 4-1 Winners at Louisville

Stanford returns home to open the new Arrillaga Tennis Center on April 3

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – No. 40 Stanford finished its 10-day ACC road trip with a 4-1 win at Louisville on Sunday afternoon.

The top four courts carried the Cardinal to victory in singles with Monika Ekstrand, Alyssa Ahn, Caroline Driscoll and Tianmei Wang all winning in straight sets. Driscoll had the clincher at No. 3, her second of the season, over Germany Davis 6-3, 6-2.

The other three singles victories all came courtesy of Stanford’s No. 1 freshman class. Ekstrand was a 6-1, 6-2 winner at No. 1, Ahn 7-5, 6-1 at No. 2 and Wang 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4. After starting her first spring 3-6 in duals, Wang has reeled off five consecutive victories.

Now 9-7 overall and 5-3 in the ACC, Stanford returns home to open the new Arrillaga Tennis Center on Friday, April 3 when it hosts Virginia Tech at 1:30 p.m.
