STANFORD, Calif. – Behind a season-best .478 attack percentage, No. 18 Stanford swept Saint Francis, 25-16, 25-21, 25-21, Friday, in Burnham Pavilion.
Opposite Moses Wagner hit a career-high .684 with a match-best 15 kills to lead the Cardinal (6-8). The senior also tallied four digs and three blocks.
Stanford held Saint Francis (7-7) to .090 hitting – the third lowest by a Cardinal opponent this season. The Cardinal finished with 41 kills, 25 digs, 8.5 blocks and two aces.
Freshman setter Jacob Little-Phillips controlled the offense with 26 assists to go with three digs, a block and a kill. Sophomore libero Evan Porter collected a match-high seven digs.
Freshman outside hitter Erik Ask recorded eight kills, three digs, three blocks and an assist. Sophomore Kaumana Carreira hit .750 with six kills on eight errorless swings, and notched two digs, two blocks and an assist.
Middle blocker Luke McFall put down Stanford’s only two aces of the night. The redshirt junior added four kills on .600 hitting and a match-best five blocks. Senior outside hitter Ryan DuRoss started his first match of the season, totaling five kills, five digs, three blocks and an assist.
Sophomore Ryan Gant and freshman Luke Morrison subbed in in the first and third sets. Gant turned in seven assists and a dig, while Morrison was 2-for-3 with no errors.
Stanford and Saint Francis meet again on Saturday. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m. in Burnham Pavilion.
