CHARLOTTE, N.C. – After his late-match heroics helped to propel Stanford to a pair of victories this weekend, Jagger Leach has been named ACC Freshman of the Week. The honor is his third of the season.
In Stanford’s victory over No. 3 Wake Forest, where it opened the brand new Arrillaga Tennis Center, Leach clinched the victory in a three-set thriller on court six, ripping off five straight games after trailing 5-2 in the third set to win 6-4, 6-7 (2), 7-6 (4). Coming down to his court for the second consecutive match, Leach provided the final point of a 4-3 win over No. 23 NC State on court five in three sets, 7-6 (3), 6-7 (6), 6-4.
Leach improved to 14-5 this spring with the result, including a 7-3 record in ACC play. Stanford moved up eight spots to No. 17 in the national ITA rankings.
The Cardinal closes the ACC regular season slate on Saturday, April 11 at California. The first serves are set for 11 a.m.
