PETERSBURG, Fla. – For the second time in 2026, Stanford sailing claimed a national championship. The team captured a fourth-consecutive ICSA Women’s Fleet Race National Championship today, finishing first with a total of 113 points.
Stanford has now won seven women's sailing national championships overall (two in 2026, two in 2025, two in 2024, 2023).
“We sailed a great event,” said head coach Chris Klevan. “I believe it was the culmination of an excellent season – we seemed to approach every practice, workout and regular season regatta with the understanding that each day adds up to what we saw the past two days. And, in that regard, it was a true team effort.”
Vanessa Lahrkamp and Callie Hammond were in the A boat for the Cardinal, finishing first with 31 points.
Sophie Fisher was skipper in the B boat, with Abby Baird, Piper Blackband and Alice Schmid rotating at crew. The B boat finished fifth with 82 points.
For Lahrkamp and Fisher, the championship performances complete an incredible run in their senior seasons on The Farm. The duo have won an ICSA Women’s Fleet Race National Championship in each of their four seasons.
The title brings Stanford's total national championship count to 177 overall (78 men, 96 women, 3 coed). This is the Cardinal's fourth national team title of the 2025-26 campaign, joining Artistic Swimming and Men's Gymnastics.
Stanford sailing has one more opportunity for a title in 2026, with the ICSA Open Fleet Race National Championships continuing this week.
