Tuhy Transfers to Stanford

One of two freshmen in the country to average a double-double last season

STANFORD, Calif. – Charlotte Tuhy, an all-conference performer as a freshman at American, has transferred to Stanford for the 2026-27 season and will have three years of eligibility remaining, Setsuko Ishiyama Director of Women’s Basketball Kate Paye announced Wednesday.

A 6-foot-1 forward from Madison, N.J., Tuhy led the Eagles in scoring and rebounding last season, averaging 12.0 points and 11.3 rebounds as a starter in all 30 games. She shot 41.2 percent from the floor (135-of-328) and 32.7 percent from 3-point range (36-of-110), and averaged 1.4 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.1 blocks per game.

Tuhy finished 10th in the nation in rebounding and was one of only two freshmen in the country to average a double-double. Her 15 double-doubles were tied for 21st in the country and third among DI freshmen. She set a school record with 339 rebounds and had a 23-point, 21-rebound double-double at Boston U. on Feb. 28, one of 17 20/20 games in the nation last season and one of two by a freshman. Tuhy was a third-team All-Patriot League selection and earned a spot on the Patriot League All-Rookie team.

“I'm excited to come to Stanford and thankful for the opportunity,” Tuhy said of her decision. “Stanford’s reputation as the best combination of academics and athletics is unmatched. The coaching staff and team were so welcoming on my visit that it really made me feel at home. I know Stanford will provide me with a competitive environment in which I can grow and succeed.”

Tuhy averaged 26.0 points per game as a senior at Madison High School and during her prep career she totaled 2,498 points and 1,147 rebounds.

“Charlotte is another great addition to our program, and we are thrilled that she chose to continue her career at Stanford,” Paye said. “She brings a lot to the court and had an extremely productive freshman year. Averaging a double-double is impressive for any player, let alone someone playing their first year of college basketball. Charlotte has a nose for the ball and when she doesn’t have it in her hands, she puts herself in good positions on the floor to help her teammates. An accomplished student, she’s a perfect fit for Stanford and we’re looking forward to watching her develop in the coming years.”

Tuhy is the sixth undergraduate transfer in Stanford women’s basketball history and third this cycle, joining Inés Sotelo from Michigan State and Ilse de Vries from Miami (Ohio). She’s the Cardinal’s sixth announced newcomer in 2026-27 along with Sotelo and de Vries, and freshmen Kiara Green, Elyse Ngenda and Jordyn Wheeler.
