Two First-Place Finishes

Cardinal tops Women's ACC Round 1, PCCSC Match Race Championship

ENFIELD, N.H. – The Cardinal took home a pair of first-place finishes this weekend, as well as a second-place spot. Stanford topped the 18-team field at the Women's ACC Round 1, as well as the five-team PCCSC Match Race Championship regatta.

“Close racing to come away with wins in both A and B division," said assistant coach Augie Dale said of the Women's ACC competition. "With a young skipper we found what needs to be improved as we approach the fall championships.”

The Stanford A boat featured Samara Walshe and Kit Harned, while the B boat included Annie Sitzmann and Piper Blackband. The A boat won behind a pair of first-place finishes in 14 races, closing with 78 points. The B boat cruised to 44 points with four wins.

At the same time, the Card took second in a competitive Danmark Trophy field.

“It is an impressive finish at an event that has, historically, given us issues," said head coach Chris Klevan. "The way the team is sailing is very encouraging. I believe we can challenge for championships this year. I thinking the team is starting to believe that too.”

The Cardinal finished with 149 points, just shy of first-place Brown's 139. The A boat, featuring Reade Decker and Callie Hammond, finished first with one win and three top-three finishes in 11 races to garner 65 points. Lucas Woodworth and Estella Morris took third in the B boat, winning one of 11 races and tallying 84 points.

At the PCCSC Match Race Championship, the Card took first in the five-team field. Dylan Sih, Freddie Parkin, Thomas Whidden and Alice Schmid all competed for Stanford, taking home the first team conference title of 2026-27.
