TEMPE, Ariz. – The penultimate tournament is in the books for the fall tennis season, as Stanford men’s tennis saw four players in action at ITA Sectionals on Arizona State’s campus. Nathan Barki, Ronit Karki, Mark Krupkin and Hudson Rivera saw the court for the Cardinal.
Six singles berths and three doubles teams were able to qualify for the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships in Athens, Georgia from Nov. 17-22, where freshman Gus Grumet has already punched his ticket to the singles event from his success at ITA Regionals in October.
Ronit Karki reached the consolation semifinals, taking down UCLA’s Andy Nguyen in the consolation round of 16, but he fell in three sets, 6-2, 4-6, 6-2. Hudson Rivera and Nathan Barki dropped their opening matches in the main draw, while the pair of Karki and Mark Krupkin saw a similar result in the doubles bracket.
Grumet will lead the Cardinal at the NCAA Singles Championships on Georgia’s campus beginning on Nov. 17.
