Geoff Abrams/Alex Kim Fall In Finals Of 111th Pacific Coast Doubles Championships

LA JOLLA, Calif. - Stanford's Geoff Abrams (Newport Beach, CA/Newport Harbor HS) and Alex Kim (Potomac, MD/Winston Churchill HS) fell to Peter Smith and Kelly Gullet 6-7, 6-2, 7-6 in the rain-delayed final of the 111th Pacific Coast Doubles Championships in LaJolla. The tournament was scheduled to be held Mar. 3-5, but rain on the final day forced the postponement of the championship match.

Abrams and Kim, who are the top-ranked Division I doubles team in the country according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association and were the top seeds in the tournament, had four match points in the third set before losing for just the third time in 27 matches this season. Gullet is a former No. 1 singles player at Pepperdine, while Smith in his fourth season as the Waves' head coach.

Abrams, Kim and the rest of the third-ranked Cardinal return to action on Tuesday when they host No. 66 Harvard at 1:30 p.m. at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium.
