Men's And Women's Crew Set To Race Oregon State On Saturday

Stanford, CA - The Stanford men's and women's crew team will head to the Pacific Northwest this weekend to face Pac-10 rival Oregon State at Lake Vancouver in Vancouver, WA. Racing is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. at Saturday, April 15.

Stanford's men's varsity eight will place its undefeated 2000 dual-race record on the line when it squares-off against the Beavers. Two weeks ago, Oregon State defeated Stanford by 3.6 seconds in the Copley Cup petite final at the San Diego Crew Classic. Stanford has defeated teams from Sacramento State, UC Santa Barbara, and UC Davis in dual races this season. Oregon State is currently ranked 14th in the latest US Rowing coaches poll. Stanford is No. 17 in the same poll.

This Saturday's race will mark the first meeting of the 2000 season between the Stanford and Oregon State women. The Stanford women's varsity eight is coming off a weekend in which it defeated Kansas State, tied UC Davis, and lost to Sacramento State. Oregon State is ranked No. 12 in the latest Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association poll, while Stanford is unranked.
