April 11, 2000

The Stanford women's golf team will host the annual Peg Barnard California Collegiate Saturday-Sunday, April 15-16 at the Stanford Golf Course. This year's field will feature 12 of the nation's top collegiate teams, including defending team champion Southern California and individual medallist Stephanie Keever of Stanford.

The field of 12 teams will feature eight schools -- No. 3 Southern California, No. 7 Stanford, No. 20 Oregon, No. 21 UCLA, No. 30 California, No. 38 Washington, No. 47 Washington State and No. 48 Oregon State -- ranked in the MasterCard Collegiate Golf Rankings Top 50. The University of San Francisco and Santa Clara University, along with Long Beach State and San Diego State round out the field.

The Trojans won the 1999 tournament with a two-round total of 599 on the par 72, 6,154-yard course. They eclipsed second-place Stanford by six strokes and third place Oregon State 16 strokes. Keever captured individual honors for the first time in her collegiate career by shooting a 36-hole total of 144, two strokes ahead of Jennifer Rosales of USC and Kathleen Takaishi of Oregon State.

First round action will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday with a shotgun start. The final 18 holes will begin with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on Sunday.
