Stanford, Calif. - Stanford sophomore right-handed relief pitcher Jeff Bruksch (Los Angeles, CA/USC/Beverly Hills HS) has been named the Pacific-10 Conference Pitcher of the Week for the first time in his collegiate career, the conference announced today. His honor marks the fourth time a Cardinal pitcher has earned the award this season.
Bruksch picked up a save in each of his three apperances last week as the Cardinal extended its season-high win streak to eight games. He allowed just two hits and one run in 6.0 innings, while striking out seven and walking only one. Opponents hit a meager .087 against him.
Bruksch now has eight saves this season, ranking him atop the Pac-10 and tied for fifth on Stanford's all-time single season save list. He also has a 2-2 record with a team-low 2.38 ERA, striking out 41 batters with only seven walks in 34.0 innings.
Stanford is currently ranked #4 in the nation by Baseball America. The Cardinal is tied for first place in the Pac-10 with Arizona State, sporting a 9-3 conference mark and a 29-9 overall record.
The Pac-10 Pitcher of the Week award honors a Stanford player for the 54th time in the history of the award.
