Defending Pac-10 Champion Stanford Women's Golf in Fifth Place

Eugene, Ore. -- The defending Pac-10 Champion Stanford women's golf team is in fifth place with a 302 after the first round of the 2000 Pac-10 Championships at the Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Ore.

Junior All-American Stephanie Keever, along with freshman Kim Rowton and junior Salimah Mussani are the leading Cardinal golfers after posting opening rounds of 75 on the par 72, 5,557-yard course. The three are tied for 10th place.

Southern California holds the first round lead with 292, seven strokes in front of Arizona heading into tomorrow's second round. Individually, Amanda Moltke-Letch of UCLA has the first round lead with a two-under par 70, followed by three golfers with 71s.

Senior JaeJean Ro sits tied for 21st place after posting a day one 77 and junior Hilary Homeyer, last year's individual championship runner-up, is tied for 31st place with a 78. Junior Lauren Robertson, competing as an individual, is tied for 21st place with a 77.

The second round of the 54-hole tournament will resume tomorrow at 8:30 a.m.
