STANFORD, Calif. - Gabe Jennings, who last week ran the nation's fastest time in the 1,500 meters this year, turned in another outstanding performance to highlight a night of track & field on Friday at the Cardinal Qualifier at Cobb Track & Angell Field.
Jennings won the 1,500 meters in a time of 3:38.7. Only last week, Jennings, a sophomore from Madison, Wi, ran a school record and nation's best 3:37.33.
The Cardinal Qualifier featured a large contingent of top national and international track & field athletes attempting to qualify for the Olympic Games, the U.S. Olympic Trials and the NCAA Division I Championships. By the end of the evening, nine athletes had attained U.S. Olympic qualifying standards.
Stanford athletes performed with successful results. Fifteen Cardinal athletes qualified for the Pacific-10 Track & Field Championships (May 20-21) at the University of Oregon.
