STANFORD, Calif. - For the fifth straight season, Stanford University's Sunken Diamond was chosen as a host site for the NCAA Division I Baseball Championships. Stanford, which is one of 16 host locations, is hosting an NCAA Regional for the ninth time.
The four-team, double-elimination tournament will be held from Friday, May 26-Sunday, May 28. Game times for the event are Friday at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m., Saturday at 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. (if necessary). Tickets can be obtained by stopping by the Stanford Ticket Office at gate 2 of Stanford Stadium or by calling 1-800-BEATCAL. All-session passes are $35 for adults and $20 for children, seniors and students, while single game tickets (available beginning May 26) are $10 for adults and $6 for children, seniors and students.
By virtue of being chosen as a host site, second-ranked Stanford is guaranteed of its seventh straight NCAA Tournament appearance and 10th in the last 11 years. The Cardinal is also assured of playing its opening round game on Friday at 7 p.m. The other three teams in the regional, as well as the rest of the 64-team field, will be announced live on ESPN on Monday, May 22 at noon.
"We're excited to once again get the chance to host a regional at Stanford," 24th-year Cardinal head coach Mark Marquess said prior to his team's game at San Francisco on Monday afternoon. "We are extremely honored that the tournament committee has selected Sunken Diamond as a host site for five straight years. We now need to take advantage of the opportunity and try to get back to Omaha for the third time in four years."
The winners of the 16 regionals advance to the NCAA Super Regionals on June 3-5 at eight different campus sites. The announcement of the eight Super Regional sites will take place on May 29. The eight Super Regional winners advance to the 54th College World Series from June 9-17 at Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha, Nebraska.
