Indianapolis, IN. - Despite a strong effort by junior Anne-Marie Keenan, who scored three goals in the game against USC, Stanford women's water polo fell to the Women of Troy 10-5 on Saturday, May 6 in the semifinals of the National Championships, held in Indianapolis, IN.
Hilary Gallogly and Kelly Shouey added one goal each, giving the Cardinal five goals. Redshirt freshman Jackie Frank defended the net for the Cardinal and made eight saves.
Stanford's record drops to 27-5. In the other semifinal game, UCLA defeated Cal 5-3. The Cardinal will play cross-bay rival Cal for third place at the National Championships on Sunday, May 7. Stanford is 2-3 against the Golden Bears this year, including a win at the Northern Regional National Qualifier to advance the Cardinal to the National Championships. USC and UCLA will face off in the Championship game.
