Hofstra Head Coach Bill Edwards
Opening Statement: It's just a great win for our program, anytime you beat a team the quality of Brigham Young it's a big accomplishment for our program. The way they hit the ball, it showed a tremendous amount of courage with the way that our team hung in there today. I thought Kelly [Blois] threw one of the best games she's thrown all year. This was probably the best hitting team all year, and she hung in there. We needed a spark early, and Amanda [Hallaway] gave us that spark in the first inning with that 2-run homer and put us right back in the game.
Q. What do you know about Central Michigan?
A. They are a super well-coached team. Margo [Jonker] is a great coach, she has a quality program, every year she is competitive. They sort of do it all. They're a lot like we are. They're athletics, they have speed at the right spots, they have power where they need it. They're very well-coached, they don't make a lot of errors. We have to go out and play our game, just like they're going to go out and play their game. Whoever gets the key hit - it's never how many, it's when - timing is everything. Central is just a real good ball club. We have to be on our toes tomorrow again.
Hofstra Player Amanda Hallaway
Q. What were your impressions of ht day?
A. It's good to be here. For me, it feels good to be home in California. I love it here, I miss being in California. It's a good experience. The second game, they came out and got us quick. I think everybody was just feeling that we weren't going to play two games and go home. We came too far to do that.
Brigham Young Head Coach Mary Kay Amicone
Opening Statement: Just a little disappointed in the way it ended. We had a heck of a season, we just didn't have enough left in us. It felt like the momentum switched and we just couldn't find a way to push that tying run across. So that was it.
Q. How will you build on this for next year?
A. Right now, we're trying to recover from a lot of seniors ending their careers. They've been the ones that really made the transition. They started our program last year. Just by winning our conference, winning our conference tournament, making it to regionals is enough to build on.
Brigham Young Player Mindy Hanson
Q. What was your experience at regionals like?
A. Well, it's the first time I've been to regionals. So far the experience was fun, it was exciting. We were definitely getting better as the season went on. I'm a little disappointed with the way we played, but as far as we got was the best thing to end on from my perspective as a senior.
