Stanford, Calif. - Stanford women's golfer Hilary Homeyer was named to the first team of the Verizon Academic All-American District VIII Team.

A total of 10 female student-athletes for nine different NCAA Division I schools comprise the 2001 Verizon Spring Women's At-Large Academic All-American First Team for District VIII as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

In order to be eligible for Academic All-American honors, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cummulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale), must be a starter or important reserve and be in at least their second season at their current school.

District VIII includes schools in the states of Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and British Columbia.

The District VIII first team student-athletes adavance to the Verizon All-America national ballot. The national Verizon Academic All-America Team will be announced on June 14, 2001.
