Davis, Calif. - The second-ranked Stanford women's water polo team jumped out to a 10-0 halftime lead en route to an easy 14-3 non-conference victory over UC Davis at Hickey Pool on Sunday afternoon. With the win the Cardinal improve to 18-1 overall and stand at 9-1 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation.
Jeanine Jackson (Los Angeles, CA), Brenda Villa (Commerce, CA) and Wendy Watkins (Modesto, CA) each recorded two goals to lead the Stanford offensive attack in the first half.
Davis came back to score two goals in the third quarter, but Kelty Luber (Beaverton, OR) netted a score with 10 seconds remaining in the quarter to go up 11-2. Hannah Luber (Beaverton, OR) added a score to begin the fourth quarter. Following an Aggie goal, Lauren Faust (Annapolis, MD) netted two goals for a 14-3 Stanford win.
Faust, Jackson, Villa and Watkins each finished with two goals apiece to lead the Cardinal. Jackie Frank (Long Beach, CA) recorded five saves in goal.
The Cardinal will conclude its regular season on Saturday, April 20, at San Jose State. Competition is set to begin at noon.
