Women's National Qualifier This Weekend at Stanford

April 23, 2003

The Stanford Women's Sailing Team will battle the best in the west for one of the two Pacific Coast berths to the National Championships (Detroit, June 2-4). The Pacific Coast Championships will be sailed on Saturday and Sunday, April 26-27 in Stanford's home waters of Redwood City. The Cardinal Women will be defending their '02 title as Women's PCC Champs. Last year, A-Division Jen Porter with crews Jess Gray/Kara Sweeney and B-Division Ashley Frush with crews Jenais Zarlin/Sarah Zukerman dominated the '02 Champs hosted by USC.

Standing in presently unranked Stanford's way will be a formidable challenge by 3rd-ranked U Hawaii and 14th-ranked UC Santa Barabara. Unranked USC will also be a threat. Also competing will be UC Irvine, Cal, UC Santa Cruz, CSU Monterey Bay and UCLA.

Sailing will be in Redwood City Creek from 11am-5pm Saturday and 10am-4pm Sunday. Awards will be presented Sunday at 4pm at the Stanford Boathouse.
