Men's Golf To Compete At ASU Thunderbird Intercollegiate

Stanford, Calif. - The Stanford men's golf team travels to Arizona, April 9-10 (Friday-Saturday) to the 32nd annual ASU Thunderbird Invitational at ASU's Karsten Golf Course (par-72, 7,037 yards). The 15 schools will play 36 holes on Friday, April 9, followed by a final round on Saturday, April 10.

The 15 competing schools are: Arizona, ASU (two teams), BYU, California, New Mexico, Oregon, Oregon State, Pepperdine, San Diego State, Stanford, Texas Tech, UNLV, USC, UTEP and Washington. There will be a shotgun start on Friday at 7:30 a.m. while Saturday's regular tee-times from holes 1 and 10 will begin at 7 a.m.

Competing for the Cardinal will be Zack Miller, Kyle Gentry, Brandon Lawson, Blake Mastalir and Kevin Blue. Matthew Savage will be competing as an individual.

Arizona State won the tournament last year, turning in a three-round score of 824 while USC placed second (832). Stanford tied for seventh (288-277-279--844). TCU's David Schultz took top individual honors, carding a 201 for the weekend. Cardinal Jim Seki tied for seventh individually (207) while teammate Kyle Gentry tied for 24th (210). Kevin Blue tied for 48th (215) and George Downing tied for 53rd (216). Blake Mastalir tied for 71st (219) to round out the Stanford golfers.

Results will be available on the ASU website (www.thesundevils.com) at the conclusion of play each day.
