Stanford, Calif. -- Southern Illinois defeatedPacific, 1-0, this afternoon in an elimination game inthe Stanford NCAA Regional at Boyd and Jill SmithFamily Stadium. The Salukis improve to 45-16 while theTigers end their season with a 36-23 record.
SIU scored the only run of the game in the bottom ofthe second inning as Adie Viefhaus scored on an errorby the shortstop.
Amy Harre (21-7) picked up the win, scattering threehits over seven shutout innings with nine strikeouts.Jennifer Dacre (16-12) took the loss for the Tigers,allowing one unearned run on six hits over six inningswith nine K's.
Samantha Carter went 2-for-2 for the Salukis whileAdie Viefhaus tallied the only run on the night. JennyDoehring had a 1-for-2 day at the plate.
Pacific was led by Jennifer Curtier who went 1-for-2on the afternoon. Michelle Anunciation and KristenAllen also collected one hit each.
Southern Illinois will play Hofstra in a 7 p.m. gametonight with the winner advancing to take on Stanfordin the championship game tomorrow at 1 p.m.
