Three Stanford Players Named to NCAA All-Tournament Teams

Senior Hannah Luber and sophomore Meridith McColl were awarded First Team All-Tournament honors, while sophomore Christina Hewko was named to the Second Team All-Tournament for their performances this weekend at the 2005 NCAA Championships. No. 3 Stanford defeated Michigan and USC, but lost to UCLA in the finals, earning second.

Meridith McColl recorded ten saves in Stanford's convincing 7-2 win over Michigan in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Hannah Luber scored three goals against Michigan, and Christina Hewko had one goal, and one assist, while contributing defensively as well with one block and one turnover.

Meridith McColl had nine saves in Stanford's 5-4 win over USC that allowed them to advance to the Championship final, while Hannah Luber scored two goals and won three of four sprints to help the Cardinal defeat USC. Christina Hewko created two turnovers for Stanford and had one assist.

In the Championship game against UCLA, Hannah Luber won two out of four sprints, and scored one of Stanford's two goals. Christina Hewko's tireless defense earned her two steals and the chance to draw one kickout, while Meridith McColl recorded eight saves.

Meridith McColl and Christina Hewko were members of the 2004 U.S. Junior National team that won gold at the Junior World Championships.
