Stanford, Calif. - The National Fastpitch Coaches Association has announced the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I All-Region teams, honoring student-athletes from nine NFCA regions. A total of 237 players from 116 different teams comprise the first and second regional teams. Chosen by NFCA member coaches from each region, the honorees will now be eligible for selection to the Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-America first, second or third teams.
Stanford senior Catalina Morris was named to the First-Team All-Pacific Region, while fellow senior Lauren Lappin was honored as a Second-Team All-Pacific Region selection. Morris and Lappin were also honored by the Pac-10 Conference this season as First-Team All-Pac-10 selections. Lappin was also named the Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Year for the second-straight season. Morris leads the Cardinal hitters with a .370 average, 38 runs, eight doubles, five triples, and seven home runs. Lappin is hitting .330 with 41 runs, 12 doubles, and two triples.
The Pac-10 Conference boasted 23 selections to the NFCA All-Pacific Region Team, sweeping the First Team honors and claiming 10 of the 13 spots on the second team.
